Well i do hunt all year round but only occassionally up till september then its full steam ahead. I tend to just go for small sets with easy acces and not too much foliage around ....mainly in a wooded copse and a small couple of banks that are easy to dig if needed. I use snares too out of season, but the fox has a field day with my snares. And they aint cheap to buy.

i start from first of septemeber to about march simply because the birds start moulting about the middle of april.. i dont hunt rabbits all year due to the fact ye only ruin your sport in the winter..

I agree with ruining the sport for winter but my permission is classed a vermin control so i keep popping in so as to be seen to be doing something. I use snares but i lose more to the fox than i bag. And as its my only permission at the moment im trying to keep the owner sweet. Im going this weekend to search for more land to take the ferrets onto when the season starts again.

of course lad, ye be safer shooting them than using snares, and then get the fox.. Trying to get a firearms license here is a nightmare. Even a sub 12ft/lb air rifle is a firearm. In the u.k i was hunting all the time with air rifles, no license under 12ft/lb needed and you can pop a bunny up to the 45-50yrd range with one. would love to start shooting with air power ......more skill neeeded with one than with a rimfire or shotgun. Lots of fieldcraft involved ...unless your sat up waiting at a set and popping them off as they come out

I know a few guys that do hunt with the air rifle down here. Now im not sure on the correct legislation for air guns. But i do know that applying for a .22 rimfire is the equivelant of applying for an air rifle so my intention is to apply for the .22 rimfire and forget the air rifle. But also down here you need to apply for a license for each individual gun you own .....so you may have a .22 rimfire license but you still need a license for every .22 rimfire you own or any other gun i.e .22 airifle also.
