I'm looking for a new home for one of my ferrets. I've had her for two years, and she's a funny little cute thing, but she bites incredibly hard sometimes, to the point that I can't take her out when there's people in my house. I've tried everything to stop her biting, scruffing her, putting her in her cage, apple spray, tap on the nose, but she still does it. I think she'd be much happier as a hunting ferret because she loves attacking small toys and biting things. I'd love to keep her, but I just can't if she's going to keep trying to eat me. If anyone would like to take her as a hunting ferret, please contact me. She's neutered but has not been vaccinated this year. And her name is Bob.

who would want to own a ferret that bites its owner, give her to a hunter and if she bites him, he will snap her neck in a minute. I would find an alternative home for her to be honest with ya.

What a horrible thing to say. You shouldn't be allowed to own pets.

just telling you the truth, by the way hunting ferrets are not kept as pets, so don't be so naive.

Just because they're not pets doesn't mean you can snap their necks if they bite you. Why don't you register as a member instead of posting as a guest so you can be held accountable for these comments? You should be banned from owning animals if you think this is an okay way to treat a living creature.

who said I owned any pets? I know a lot of ferreters and if they had a ferret that bit them they would snap its neck if it bit them, but if it showed potential they would just snap their holders, if you don't know what their holders are, I will tell you, they are the teeth used to grip its pray, they just snip they off with a pliers. i'm just telling you what goes on, anyhow your ferret will never make a good hunter because she is spayed.

this sites a fucking joke, lads talking about snapping ferrets teeth and their necks, get a grip you fucking dickheads. if theres one way to get hunting a bad name its this site. If you snap ferrets teeth ye need a boot in the balls. that's what locators and spades are for.
just because a ferret bites doesn't make it a hunting ferret. its biting for a reason. you obviously haven't handled her right from the start. and spayed ferrets don't make a difference to hunting, my best BEEP was spayed.

Ned I assume you are on day release from a home for the criminally stupid, your friends need correctional training, preferably with a cricket bat, to educate them in handling and husbandry of ferrets. Morons like you do more damage to hunting than a coach load of Antis and you should be allowed contact with nothing more than a Stick Insect or Jelly Fish, you may then spend your time attempting to achieve their I. Q level. Buffoon.

Snapping ferrets teeth went out with the ark. I would never keep a ferret that bit all the time but would try every method I knew to stop it before I got rid. Seems to me there are some people on here who know very little about ferrets and what one needs to be like to make a good worker. All mine are soft and very handleable but excellent workers. I have kept them for more years than I care to remember and you will always encounter idiots who have kept them for six months and are experts.

not at al ned i have my own ferrets and 2 little cracking workers they are pets are no good 2 me I'm no expert, I've had 1 ferret for about 2 years, and my second ferret is with me for less than a year. However, I can tell you that there are pet ferrets who make good hunters. Loki is a neutered hob, he lives in the house with me, he comes running when I call his name, he is trained for a litter box, he sleeps on my lap or in the dogs bed, he's a total pet. He's also a damn fine hunter. Has killed countless mice around my house since the time I got him. He bolts plenty of rabbits when I take him to the local warrens. He has killed at least 1 rat that I am aware of, and he does a great job of keeping them away from the greenhouse and compost heap. He also got lost for a month one time and managed to feed himself just fine during that time. 10 days after he got lost the rats were back around my house again. That's when I got the second ferret. Then Loki turned up again. I have a radio collar for him but I rarely need to turn on the receiver. If I call him, 9 times out of 10, he comes running. johno
